Arrival in Conwy

Conwy is a small town, and on large events like this it can become very congested, so if crossing the Conwy bridge please try to arrive and park in Conwy before 8.30am as we will be shutting the roads for the event and you may have to take a diversion (via the Tunnel) which could delay you getting to the start line.

Please be patient and factor in about an additional approx. 30mins to your journey.

Parking

(please bring some change for the parking machines)

There are two main car parks for the event:-  Car park 1 at Gyffin, LL32 8NN
Car park 2 Bodlondeb LL32 8DU,

Please follow signs, marshals will be on hand to help .

Other Car parks are available in the town and are subject to pay & display charges and T&C. Please see further information on car parking on the link to the right of drop down menu for the event >>>>

If travelling from Chester direction, use J18 on the A55.
Sat nav LL32 8FZ

If travelling from Holyhead direction, use J17 on the A55.
Sat nav LL32 8DU

If you are local, please try and park in the surrounding areas, Deganwy, Llandudno Junction.

Race Start Times

Fun Run 08.45am / Half Marathon 09.30am

Fun Run

The fun run registration is on the quayside open from 7.30am.
£5 entry on the day to include a t-shirt and medal.

Start / finish

Is along the Quayside and will be lined with barriers and flags

Race HQ / Enquiries open at 8.00am

Race HQ is in St Mary’s church hall (Rose Hill Street ), just about 200 mtrs from the start and next door to the Bridge pub, the fun run is on the quayside.
If you have received your number and chip in the post, there is no need to register on the day, just turn up and run.

Toilets / Changing

Porta loos & public toilets will be near the start/finish located by the Liverpool Arms pub on the quayside, there are also mens urinals situated behind the portaloos, Guys make sure your in the right queue. There will also be porta loos on route at approx. mile 3.5 by the water station

Llandudno Junction Leisure centre (Sat Nav LL31 9XY) will offer some shower and changing facilities on a restricted service due to COVID, please only use if you really need these facilities. (charges apply pay at reception),  Please go to Reception with your race number (Strictly NO Parking at Leisure Centre during Event) The Leisure Centre closes at 13.00pm

Baggage – Open from 8:00am on the quayside

A Baggage tag will be sent with your race pack, please make sure your race number is on the tag and attached to your bag before handing your bag over.

Every effort will be made to securely store your baggage, however, please DO NOT leave any valuables, cash. Jewellery etc in your bag as we cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage. Items not in a bag maybe refused or left at your own risk.

Drink Stations

There will be a water station (Brecon Carreg Water 300ml bottles) at approx 3 1/2 miles, 7 miles,  9 miles and at the Finish

First Aid

First Aid cover will be provided by a professional medical team. First Aid station will be located at the start and finish and on course. In order to help our medical team, help you it is critical you fill out the medical history information on the back of your race number. If you are injured or unwell to carry on at any stage please notify the nearest marshal who will call for First Aid assistance. It will be the discretion of the medical team if they transport you back to the finish.
If you retire from the race, it’s really important that you let the nearest Marshal to you know and give them your race number. This is so we can account for you at the end of the race. It is your responsibility to arrange transport back to the start.

There will be a T-shirt and medal for all runners to collect at the finish.

Merchandise – Open from 8:00am

If you ordered a Technical T-shirt or hoodie online, these can be picked up from the merchandise trailer before or after the race, we will also have some race day merchandise available to buy on the day (cash only).
At each race we have a huge jumble sale of old stock from past races, these items are on a cash only sale.

Headphones

Headphones are not allowed during this race in accordance with UK Athletics rules as the course does not have a full road closure with the exception of bone-conducting headphones.

Litter

Please be mindful and respect local residents and DO NOT throw your bottles, energy gels in gardens/over walls etc. Where possible please leave your litter at the  nearest water station or with the nearest marshal where possible when a bin is not available. Runners will now be disqualified and taken off the results if seen discarding their rubbish outside of a water stop or not with a marshal.
PLASTIC AND ITS USE IS AN INCREASING PROBLEM

Cut off times

Time limit – We ask runners to be able to keep a pace of 12- 15min mile and complete a half marathon in 3-3:30hours. If you are running slower than this pace, you will still be able to finish, however, when directed to do so you will need to run on pavements and run as a pedestrian obeying all signals and the highway code. We cannot guarantee volunteer marshals will continue to be on course and therefore it is your responsibility to look at the route and follow the course signs.

Road Closure

The whole route will be closed to traffic, however, breaches are sometimes made by angry motorists, so please be vigilant at all times and always listen to the marshals instructions.

When crossing a road please listen to marshal instructions on crossing points and keep on the Left at all times unless instructed different.

Please be aware that we must maintain access to residents and emergency vehicles, it is your responsibility to stop for a car approaching a junction.

Residents along west parade, please park your vehicle facing Deganwy, this will allow easy movement of your vehicle during the event when safe to do so.

  • 06:30am – 15:00pm Conwy Quayside
  • 08.00am – 10:00am, Conwy Road Conwy (the Cob) and will re open as a one way out of Conwy from 10.00am
  • 09.00am – 13.30pm Glan Y Mor Road, Llandudno Junction
  • 09.00am – 14.00pm, A546 in the direction of Llandudno- from the New Lidl Supermarket  roundabout through to Deganwy, Maesdu Ave, Bryniau Road, Gloddaeth Avenue (at the roundabout to the Lilly), Right onto West Parade to Abbey Road past St David’s Hospice to the junction of Church Walks.
  • The A546 out of Llandudno will be unaffected, but delays are expected. Please use an alternative route where possible.
  • 09.30am – 13.00pm Along Church Walks
  • 09.30am – 13.00pm Church Walks from the roundabout near the pier entrance along north parade towards the Great Orme toll booth
  • 09.30am-13.00pm – Marine Drive (great orme toll road) through to West Parade/Abbey Rd

Roads will be reopened on a rolling basis as runners go through each section closed off, all roads will be re-opened by 3pm.

Delays are expected but access will be provided for residents and businesses when it is safe to do so, emergency services access will be maintained at all times.
