Snowdonia Half Marathon // Hanner Marathon Eryri

Date: 10th May 2026

ONE OF THE UK’s TOUGHEST HALF MARATHONS

WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!

THIS IS VERY TOUGH! THIS IS VERY TOUGH!

A scenic but tough Half Marathon set in the beautiful Snowdonia National Park, North Wales. Starting and finishing in the town of Llanrwst which played host to the World Trail Running Championships in 2013. The park is a region of haunting beauty and grandeur, of wild rocky mountains, hidden valleys, cascading rivers, still glacial lakes and deep forests.

2026 sees the 14th running of this very scenic race, feedback suggests everyone enjoyed the race with lots of comments about the tough hills, but they said that it made the course a challenge and gave them a sense of achievement.

This year we intend to make this Half Marathon not just a great race but a great event, we are working with the local community to ensure your race day or weekend is memorable and encourages you to return year on year. RunWales are proud of the events we organise, with the emphasis on the runners enjoyment of the whole event, this is what we expect as runners and so will provide for you.

Feedback from runners suggested it should be a little more challenging given the name “Snowdonia Half Marathon” so in 2016, we listened and oh yes it is now more challenging, we have taken out the road to and from the village of Trefriw and re-routed you straight up to Llyn Geirionydd, then up and over to Llyn Crafnant, we then go back down to Trefriw before heading up the 1:7 hill (Forest Hill) at mile 11, then back down to the finish via Gwydyr Castle, good luck guys, you’ll need it!!!

You will leave Llanrwst on race day and tell your Family, Friends and Colleagues “I did it, I completed the Snowdonia Half Marathon”

Knowing the cost of entry is fair*

"We price match or lower our entry fees against other leading race organisers, thats our entry fee promise to you"

A quality bespoke Medal and Technical Tshirt for all finishers.

Fun Run: There is no fun run at this event.

RACE DAY INFORMATION

Race Day FAQ – Everything You Need to Know

We can’t wait to welcome you on race day! Here’s everything you need to know to have a smooth, enjoyable run.

What time does the race start?
The race kicks off at 10:00am, so make sure you give yourself plenty of time to arrive, park, and get ready.

When does Race HQ open?
Race HQ opens from 8:00am and is right next to the start/finish area. Our team will be there to help with anything you need.

Where do I collect my number and timing chip?
Head over to Race HQ when you arrive — quick and easy collection on the day.

Where should I park?
We’ve got a few options available:  Pay & Display (Cash or  the pay by phone app)

  • Glasdir (LL26 0DF)

  • Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy & Nebo Road (LL26 0SD) – open 08:00–13:00

  • Watling Street (LL26 0LS)

Tip: If you’re aiming for a faster finish (under 2.1/2 hours), Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy is your best bet.

Please don’t park near the start/finish — the race can’t begin if the road is blocked.

Will there be water on the course?
Yes! You’ll find drink stations roughly every 3 miles, plus one at the finish. If you prefer to carry your own, feel free.

Are there toilets?
Yes — located near the start/finish and at the Cricket Club.

What about first aid?
Your safety is our priority. A professional medical team will be on hand throughout the event.
Don’t forget to fill in the medical info on the back of your race number.

What if I need to stop during the race?
No problem — just let the nearest marshal know.
If you withdraw:

  • Return your chip to Race HQ (avoiding the finish line area)

  • Or let a marshal know your race number if you leave the course

What do I get at the finish?
Every finisher receives a bespoke medal and technical T-shirt — well earned!

When are prizes awarded?
Around 12:15pm for:

  • Top 3 Male & Female runners

  • 1st place in each age category

Is there a baggage drop?
Yes — small bags only please.
Avoid leaving valuables, as items are stored at your own risk.

Merchandise & goodies
Open from 8:00am:

  • Collect pre-ordered hoodies

  • Grab race-day merch (cash & card)

  • Browse our popular jumble sale (cash only)

Are roads closed?
Some are, but not all — please:

  • Follow marshal instructions

  • Keep to the left unless told otherwise

Where can I find results?
Results will be live later in the day on runwales.com.

Where are the photos?
Check out your race moments at: www.mickhall-photos.com

Can I wear headphones?
Standard headphones aren’t allowed (UK Athletics rules), but bone-conducting headphones are fine.

Litter & respect
Please help us keep the course beautiful:

  • Use water stations or marshals for rubbish

  • No littering — this may lead to disqualification

Is there a cut-off time?
We recommend a pace of 12–15 min/mile (approx. 3–3.5 hours).
If you’re slower, you can still finish, but:

  • You may need to move onto pavements

  • Follow normal road rules

  • Marshals may no longer be on course
